Hurricane Katrina was one of the most destructive tropical cyclones ever to hit the United States. Subsequent flooding over most of the city of New Orleans, a large part of which lies below sea level, resulted in widespread damage and many deaths. The death and suffering were increased by a delay in the arrival of federal, state, and local, disaster relief.

The hurricane caused extensive damage to the coastal regions of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama on August 29, 2005, hitting landfall at 6:10am. From 11:00am onwards, several sections of the levee system in New Orleans, Louisiana collapsed, due to the force of the storm.

Recent estimates have placed the death toll in the thousands, and the damage higher than Hurricane Andrew as the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history (estimates run higher than $100 billion). Over a million people were displaced — a humanitarian crisis on a scale unseen in the U.S. since the Great Depression.

How Can you Help?

Thanks to Minelab USA, Inc and several other contributors I was able to set up a raffle that will allow someone to win a new Minelab SD2100v2 Metal Detector and a bunch of accessories.  This package once it is finalized will be valued at  $3000.00!

To have a shot at winning this great detector package deal you can purchase a minimum of one ticket at $20 to have one shot at winning this great giveaway prize.  There isn't a limit to how many tickets an individual can purchase.  The more you purchase the better chance you have at winning.  All the proceed will go to a "Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund."  Rob Allison, Rob's Detector Sales is just setting this raffle.  All the funds will eventually be sent to Minelab USA, Inc in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Minelab will draw the lucky ticket several days after the ending date.

What you will Receive

Once you purchase a ticket(s) you will be mailed your tickets through US Mail.  Please make sure you have a complete return mailing address included with your donation.  Along with your ticket(s) you will receive a receipt for tax purposes.  I also have part of all tickets sold to verify the winner after the drawing. 

Raffle Ending Date and Drawing

September 30th, 2005 will be the last day to purchase tickets for this raffle.  All donations must be sent before this date and all Paypal and Visa - MasterCard donations must be made before 8pm Arizona time to be valid.  Minelab USA, Inc in Las Vegas, Nevada will draw the lucky ticket.
